The Corail traction network anti-icing system is an innovative solution in contact wire lubrication technology. The patented mechanism automatically applies a special lubricant to the lower part of the traction network wire, providing key benefits:
Protection against icing – a hydrophobic layer effectively prevents ice from accumulating on the cables.
Less friction – reduced wear on pantographs and cables, longer component life, and fewer breakdowns and downtime.
The system operates fully automatically – it selects the lubricant dose according to the driving speed and the position of the hose. This ensures that the protection remains effective for a long time without the need for additional maintenance.
The solution can be used on various types of rail vehicles, from service trains and draisines to trams and passenger trains. It is compatible with all standard DC and AC voltage levels used in electrified lines.
The system components that remain in contact with the traction network are powered and controlled pneumatically, which eliminates the risk of unwanted traction voltage transfer. The lubrication system is mounted on the pantograph, and the remaining components are installed on the vehicle roof.
